About Fisheries Development Islamabad Board:

Fisheries Development Board (FDB)was established by the then Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in August 2007 as a Non-profit Organization (NPO) under Section-42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984. The Article of Association enforce to be governed by 15 Board of Directors comprising 6 members from public and 9 members from private sector. After devolution in 2010 Ministry of National Food security and Research taken administrative control of Fisheries Development Board.

Fisheries Development Board for the time being promoting Fish sector through aquaculture of different fish andshrimp species both marine and fresh water species under different project funded by different organizations which ultimately will not only increase the supply of raw material to the sea food industry of Pakistan as well create the opportunities in terms of new jobs

Project Title:Establishment of Pen Fish Farm of Sea bass and Groupers along the coastal belt of Province Sindh Pakistan

Grade / Title: Aquaculture Technician

Location:Coastal High way MirpurSakro/Hub Dam River Baluchistan

Contract:one year

Work Week: 6 days/week

Objectives of the Project:

  • Promotion of fisheries sector though private sector investment in high value aquaculture and farming systems by establishing cluster of pen fish farms at suitable sites along the coast of Sindh.
  • Poverty alleviation and capacity building of the fisher folk involved in fishing, fish production, handling, storage, transportation and marketing.
  • Supply raw material to fish processing industry of Pakistan to realize export potential which is more than one Billion USD

Scope of the Project:

  • Establishment of 50 pen fish farms each containing the area of 1200 sq yards with total area of 12.5 Acre;
  • Designing and Manufacturing of pens for culture;
  • Procurement of equipment and machinery;
  • Installation of pens in the creek;
  • Hiring and training of staff;
  • Procurement of fish seed, fish feed and consumables;
  • Stocking of fish seed of groupers, sea bass and milkfish @ 10000/ pen;
  • Observation of growth potential of these species under study;
  • Training and technical backstopping for operation and maintenance of Pen Fish Farms

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for maintenance of site equipment and facilities, including float scraping and fish net washing
  • Complete regular and scheduled fish feeding
  • Monitor overall health and size of fish stock
  • Sort fish to maintain optimum health of stock
  • Strong coordination with site manager Pen culture to discuss various upcoming issues during operational phase of the Pen Farm
  • Monitor water quality of pen farm on daily basis
  • Establishment of pen farm as per instruction of Consultant/Site Manager

Qualification:

  • BSc/Bs with major Subject including Zoology or Aquaculture or Fisheries or Marine Fisheries
  • Physically be able to lift up 75 Pounds and work on fish pen/cage
  • Must be able to work in all types of environment
  • Must be able to work on vessel
  • Mechanical aptitude will be highly recommended
  • The ability to swim, dive or willingness to learn to dive will be highly recommended

Experience:

  • Minimum Two Year of Experience in the relevant field
