The Education Campaign

BITC’s Education Campaign aims to build effective, sustainable partnerships between schools and businesses - with the ultimate goal of helping young people to develop the skills, aspirations and motivation they need to succeed in the workplace.

Business Class is BITC’s flagship education framework, a unique business and education partnership programme, which aims to bring about sustainable improvements in primary and secondary education in some of the country’s most disadvantaged schools.

Through Business Class, businesses are partnered with a secondary school and work together to review each school’s particular challenges. They then identify opportunities for the business to provide tailored support around leadership and governance, enterprise and employability, the curriculum and wider issues. Business Class has more than 470 operational partnerships across the country with over 110 in Area South. The Oxford Cluster currently comprises of 9 partnerships.

Purpose of Job

BITC is currently looking to appoint a dynamic, entrepreneurial and committed person to join the South Area Education Team and manage the growth of the Oxford Education Cluster.

The jobholder will work closely with the team of experienced Education Managers in area south as well as with BITC’s national education team to ensure successful engagement and successful school and business partnerships. The new Education Manager will also build key partnerships with new businesses, new schools and education support organisations.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

·  Managing the day to day running of Business Class in Oxfordshire.

·  Recruitment of additional schools and businesses to participate.

·  Working with the Senior Education Manager and Head of Education to establish a comprehensive programme of activities to enhance cluster collaboration and the quality of school and business relationships.

·  Collation of data to support evaluation and impact measurement.

·  Implementing a recruitment strategy for engaging new businesses and schools to the programme.

·  Developing strong relationships with multiple stakeholders such as businesses, local authorities, voluntary sector, schools and Education Business Partnerships.

·  Disseminating the sharing and learning of best practice in Business Class and aiding its development through termly cluster meetings.

·  Delivering quality Skills development events (apprenticeship event).

·  Ensure that health and safety requirements are met in the areas for which the jobholder is responsible.

·  The post holder may be required to carry out other duties that are reasonably to be considered as within the scope and purpose of the job and the aptitudes of the job holder.

Special working conditions:

·  Based at home but regular travel to Oxfordshire will be required

·  Travelling across England South and London will also be required

·  Attending morning events and occasional overnight stays if necessary.

Person Specification

Knowledge / ·  Strong understanding and experience of the UK education system and the various partner or delivery organisations
·  Insight into Oxfordshire’s social and economic issues and educational priorities
·  An appreciation of businesses and their impact in the community
Experience / ·  Experience of working with senior people in business
·  Experience of working with schools and teachers
·  Track record of successful multi-stakeholder engagement
Skills / ·  Outstanding relationship building and networking skills
·  Strong and compelling communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal;
·  excellent organisation and coordination skills underpinned by attention to detail and an ability to prioritise and manage a large number of time-specific tasks concurrently;

What if something happens to me? / Payment of four times the annual salary will be paid to the estate of any individual in the event of death while they are employed at BITC.
