About buildingSMART
buildingSMART is a non-profit international organisation managed by its members, representing businesses across the whole spectrum of construction. buildingSMART is delivered via ‘regional alliances’, each representing a country or a group of countries. Every alliance promotes the dynamic and seamless exchange of information – through Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) standards – from design through to facilities management. buildingSMART International is a neutral and governing body responsible for maintaining diligent global operations. There are regional chapters in Europe, North America, Australia, Asia and Middle East.
buildingSMART Singapore was officially registered in October 1997. The objective is to collaborate with buildingSMART Chapters worldwide to define, publish and promote common standards for sharing information through the construction project life cycle and across disciplines and technical applications. buildingSMART Singapore will help the domain experts to localize and adapt IFC standards for application on projects in our local industry.
buildingSMART Singapore works closely with the Construction Industry IT Technical Committee to define and endorse IT standards for Singapore as well as with IT vendors, institutions of higher learning and government agencies to implement strategic IT systems developed based on the IT standards adopted.
Why buildingSMART Singapore?
buildingSMART Singapore is part of a international alliance of industry experts, who for over 10 years, have worked together to improve the efficiency and sustainability of construction in Singapore. The key to the success of buildingSMART is that we work with the construction industry to develop internationally recognised standards for processes and technologies. These standards improve interoperability between all project stakeholders, throughout the entire life cycle of a built facility. buildingSMARTis well established in the USA, Europe and the Pacific Rim and buildingSMART standards havebeen adopted in many countries. Success for buildingSMART Singapore will benefit all those involved inconstruction, both locally and internationally.
buildingSMART Singapore is committed to helping your business cut costs, improve efficiency, achieve sustainability and increase profits.
