With the upcoming busy exam period, we want students to achieve the best A Level and GCSE results that they can by providing support in an encouraging environment with the guidance from experienced teachers and undergraduate students in Maths, English and Science. Our project aims to tackle the inequalities in academic support obtained by students outside of their school and college environment. Students will receive support in both structured and informal sessions delivered by a team of volunteers from the University of Manchester. This service will not only help to raise attainment in the local area of Longsight, but help to establish the future and careers of young people. In addition, the team of select volunteers from the University of Manchester will also act as mentors to the younger A level and GCSE students, providing valuable advice and sharing their experiences of progressing on to university. In the less structured or informal sessions, the young students can take the opportunity to discuss their concerns and about higher education. From this we can signpost to other widening access schemes such as the Manchester Access Program.

About Access All Areas

Access All Areas is the newest volunteering arm of the Students' Union, bringing together a range of student-led educational volunteer projects in the local community. All of our projects have the same aim - to improve access and widen participation in education.
