ABCMR Record of Proceedings (cont) AR20060004649
THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests that his Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty (DD Form 214) be corrected to show that he served in the Army in a light wheel vehicle mechanic (63B1O) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).
2. The applicant states that his DD Form 214 erroneously shows that he served in a track vehicle repairer (63H1O) MOS.
3. The applicant provides in support of his application, a copy of his OrdnanceCenter and School Diploma which indicates that he successfully fulfilled all requirements of the course and was awarded a wheel vehicle repairer (63W1O) MOS.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. On 20 November 1993, the applicant enlisted in the United States Army Reserve (USAR) for 8 years, in the pay grade of E-1. He enlisted in the Regular Army on 28 December 1993. His enlistment contract shows a Training Enlistment Program Option of 63W1O and he was assured of attending a school course for MOS 63W1O.
2. On 14 June 1994, the applicant successfully fulfilled all requirements of the OrdnanceCenter and School, and he was furnished a diploma and declared an honor graduate as a wheel vehicle repairer.
3. A review of the available records indicate that the applicant served in a 63W1O MOS until he was honorably released from active duty on 21 May 2005, upon completion of his required service. The DD Form 214 that he was furnished at the time of his release from active duty shows his MOS as 63H1O.
4. DA Pamphlet XXI, dated 5 September 2006, contains the United States Human Resource Command, Enlisted MOS Conversion Chart. The conversion chart indicates that as of 1 January 2005, the 63W1O MOS converted to 63B1O.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. An error was made during the preparation of the applicant's DD Form 214 which resulted in the incorrect MOS being reflected.
2. There is no evidence in the available records that shows that the applicant ever served in a 63H1O MOS while he was in the Army. The evidence of record clearly shows that he served in a 63W1O MOS while he was on active duty in the Army.
3. However, in accordance with Department of the Army Pamphlet XXI, as of 1January 2005, the 63W1O MOS converted to a 63B1O MOS prior to his release from active duty. Therefore, 63B1O should have been annotated on his DD Form 214 at the time of his release from active duty.
4. In view of the foregoing, it would now be appropriate to correct the applicant's records as indicated below.

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:
The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by amending his DD Form 214 to show that he served in a light wheel vehicle mechanic (63B1O) MOS.
