Greetings from Room 18!

I am so happy that IOWA week is over and we can get back to our regularly schedule! Please remember that in addition to homework listed in the assignment notebook (which is also on my webpage), your child is expected to read 20 minutes a day five day a week. Please have them record this on their book it form. Reading for pleasure is one of the habits to ensure academic success. Thank you to those who have signed up for Friday Folders. Your volunteer efforts are very much appreciated. Speaking of volunteers, you should be receiving information soon about the third grade Halloween Party very soon. I have also contacted Mercy Bellbrook and they are very excited to hear that the third grade at Holy Family will be making fleece blankets for the residents in the memory care unit of their facility. More information will be coming regarding making the blankets.

We our continuing with Chapter 5 about Earth and Its Features. We are working on our landform posters and are making a model of the Earth featuring its layers. We will learn how weather effects the crust of the earth. When we are ready to test, a study guide will come home containing everything they need to prepare for the test scheduled for Thursday, October 19th.

Social Studies

We will resume our study of Michigan after we complete Chapter 1 inScience.

Language Arts

In Lesson 5, we will read about Roberto Clemente’s humble beginnings in Puerto Rico and his rise to fame with the Pittsburgh Pirates. We will also be reading some poetry about baseball.
