AAPS Distinguished Pharmaceutical Scientist Award

AAPS is seeking nominations for the Distinguished Pharmaceutical Scientist Awardto be presented at the 2017 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition, November 12 – 16, in San Diego, CA. The award is intended to recognize the accomplishments of an individual that have been outstanding because of the impact of his/her work in the pharmaceutical sciences, regulatory and/ortechnology. The work must have moved significantly the frontier of the field. It must be demonstrated by a continued effort that involves the testing and establishment of basic concepts. These concepts must have important scientific significance and have stimulated research investigations by others.

This prestigious AAPS Distinguished Pharmaceutical Scientist Award will be bestowed only when a worthy candidate is identified, and will be presented no more than every two years.

Nomination Requirements

1.Nominations may be made by any member of AAPS. Please include the required nominator information online when submitting your supporting documentation.

2The required supporting documentation includes: (a) the nominee’s biographical information as well as a copy of the curriculum vitae; (b) a summary (not to exceed two single spaced, typed pages) of nominee's major research accomplishments stated in such a way that a person from another discipline can appreciate the significance and uniqueness of the nominee's contribution; (c)two supporting letters that speak specifically and exclusively to the research accomplishments of the nominee; and (d) at least two statements, either supporting or nominating the individual, from scientists not currently nor recently based at the home institution of the nominee. This does not exclude additional letters from scientists at the home institution.

3.Completed nomination forms and all required documents must be submitted online at the following link no later than June 14, 2017. (Submission deadline is firm)

Note: Additional information may be requested by the Selection Committee when nominations are reviewed.

Selection Procedures

The award recipient will be required to discuss his/her research, for which the award was won, at a roundtable session.

Nominations will be reviewed by the most recent five past presidents of AAPS. The five past presidents will then consult with the appropriate peer review committees to make the final selection.

The award winner will receive a $10,000 honorarium in addition to a suitably inscribed Crystal Eagle.
