Racing to Read TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!!

Our annualRacing to Readparent night is TOMORROW NIGHT. As you know, this is a great night of family fun for our school. As usual, we will give away a family four-pack of tickets for theGoody's Headache Relief Shot 500 Powered by Krogerat the Martinsville Motor Speedway onOctober26th. We will also provide Mrs. Wanda’s famous hot dog supper for everyone in attendance. If you’ve never attended one of these events, this is your year! Mr. Ottaway will offer a session that explains our school’s status as a Title I school. To top it all off, we’ll also have our fall book fair grand opening that evening! You will not want to miss this exciting night of learning and fun!!!To encourage participation, we will be sending home two extra chances to win the race tickets on Tuesday.

Read to Achieve for Third Grade Parents

Mr. Ottaway will conduct a special session for third grade parents at the conclusion of our Racing to Read night TOMORROW NIGHT. The topic being discussed with be North Carolina’s Read to Achieve law. All third grade parents should plan to be in attendance. You’ll not want to miss this session.

National School Lunch Week

October13-17 is National School Lunch Week. Mrs. Vogler is pulling out the stops. The theme this year is "Get In The Game with School Lunch." With an obvious sports theme, we'll be doing something sports related each day.

Tuesday:Wear your favorite team t-shirt or jersey

Wednesday:Give A Way day. All lunch patrons will receive a free treat.

Thursday:Wear our school colors

Friday:Staff versus Fifth grade kickball game

There will be a drawing for a special sports basket on Monday,October20th.

Trik-A-Thon

Our annual Pre-K Trike-a-thon is scheduled forFriday,October17th. Our students participate in this event each year as it benefits St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Not only do they raise money for a good cause, they also learn a great deal about bicycle safety. If you’re interested in sponsoring a student or making a donation to this cause, please contact Mrs. Abigail Watkins for donation information.

Fall Pictures

Our fall pictures have arrived. Some went home on Friday. Others should go home today. If you ordered pictures and do not receive them, please let us know asap. We will contact Lifetouch.

Lunch Charges

Thanks for taking care of lunch charges. We still have a way to go, but our total is down significantly from last week. If you receive a letter from Mrs. Vogler or a reminder call from Mr. Ottaway, please take care of the charges as soon as possible.
