What are the Community Events?
An opportunity to invite friends, colleagues and community members to listen to a compelling keynote speaker and hear about the impact of Scouting in our local community.
- Introduce local community and business leaders to our programs
- Raise additional funds to expand to more youth in the local community
How does Scouting benefit our local Community?
The core of Scouting teaches youth a variety of skills and significance that inspires a lifetime of character and service. For over 100 years, it has been in the heart of every Scout who ever overcame one of life’s challenges. From the first man that walked on the moon to the 35th President that spoke the famous words, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country,” Scouting prepares for something more.
As we look to the next generation of Scouts and the adults they will become, we shall instill in them the honor and integrity that comes with being a Scout.
Our vision, to be the premier youth organization in the counties we serve, continue to challenge youth to make responsible decisions, take pride in one’s community, develop leadership skills, and improve self-confidence.
How do the Community Events Support Scouting in our Community?
The Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council does not receive federal funding or National Boy Scout funding. The council raises 100% of its dollars locally and uses all the money raised to support youth in our community.
Currently, the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council serves more than 13,000 young boys and girls. Through increased financial support, our goal is to expand our program to all youth, primarily those living in hard-to-serve neighborhoods.
100% of the funds raised from the Community Events will enable us to continue our mission by improving and expanding our programs to youth across the four counties we serve.
