Thy Kingdom Come is now a global event [ with its roots beginning in the UK. For the third year, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York are calling on each one of us to share in a powerful, international wave of prayer, to pray for non-Christian friends, neighbours and family to come to know Jesus, also for the growth of the church.

The event starts with a Launch Service on Wednesday, 9th May at 7:00pm in Blackburn Cathedral. If you wish to attend please sign up on the list at the back of church, we will then organise transport together.

Why not be part of the team to enable the church to be OPEN DAILY throughout the ten days of Thy Kingdom Come - Pledge 2 Pray. We are then looking for volunteers to staff the church from 10th and 20th May from 10:00am to 4:00pm [volunteer for two hours of the day]. A training session for volunteers will be held on Tuesday, 1st May from 10.:30am to 12:30pm in church. Please sign up as a volunteer with your preferred contact details on the list located at the back of the church.

Annual Parochial Church Meeting will be held on Sunday 29th April at 11:30am in church. At the meeting we will receive reports on church activities during 2017 together with the annual accounts. Elections will also be held to the posts of Warden, Deanery Synod Representative and PCC members (who are the Trustees of St Cuthbert’s).

Sidesperson’s Rota. We are running low on sidespersons, those who welcome and assist the congregation at our services. If you feel you this is a way you could volunteer please speak with Chris Kitchener in church or ring him on 01253 795637, alternatively ring the Parish Office on 01253 736488 for further information.

Confirmation. This year’s Confirmation Service will be at St John’s on Thursday 28th June at 6:30pm. If anyone wishing to be confirmed or wishing to explore the idea further, please could they speak with the Vicar.

Ordination of Adam Thomas is on Saturday 30th June at 10:30am in Blackburn Cathedral. This is a ticketed event and so we are asking those who wish to attend to sign up on the list at the back of church, including contact details. We will welcome Adam and his family to St Cuthbert’s the following day when he will be preaching.

Sponsorship of the 10:00am Parish Communion service sheet and the flowers in church. This is something which you may consider appropriate to do in memory of a loved one or at the time of a special family event. Name’s and suitable wording of the sponsor’s choice will feature on the sheet. The cost of each sponsorship is £25.00; for the sponsorship of both together, the cost is £40.00. Details should be provided to the Parish Office. For taxpayers, there is a reminder that gift-aiding the money will provide even greater financial benefit to the Church.

Dementia Awareness Day: Friday 20th April - Saturday 21st April

Fosbrooke House are holding a fundraising day to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. The event will centre around a 24-hour cycle ride (on an exercise bike) from 12:00pm on the Friday to 12:00pm Saturday, if you wish to take a turn please let them know on 667048, even if it’s for 10 minutes!
