SomerZicht is located in a very quiet and tranquil part of Somerset West. There is very easy access to Stellenbosch and the Wine Routes, Hermanus and the Whale Route, beaches at Strand and Gordons Bay, Cape Point and Cape Town. Cape Town International Airport is a mere 25 km away. There are also various world class golf courses in the region.
We advise guests to stay for 3 or more days in order to experience everything the area has to offer. Various daytrips can be done from SomerZicht, amongst others:
- Wine and Dine: A vast selection of wine estates and gourmet restaurants on offer.
- Historic wine estates in Somerset West – Vergelegen, Lourensford & Morgenster
- Stellenbosch and the various Wine Routes
- A daytrip to Cape Town
- Circular trip to Cape Point via N2 – from Cape Point, return via Simonstad, Kalk Bay, Muizenberg to Somerset West.
- Circular route via Sir Lowry’s Pass and Grabouw, the Theewaterskloofdam to Franschhoek, and then via the Helshoogte Pass back to Stellenbosch and Somerset West
- Explore one of the most scenic coastal drives in the country: via Gordon’s Bay, take Clarence Drive to Rooi Els, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay – stop and visit the African Penguin Colony – then continue to Kleinmond and Hermanus. Lunch in Hermanus – walk along the cliff path and spot whales and dolphins. Return via N2 to Somerset West.
- A little history – visit Greyton and Genadendal, then on to Caledon and return via the Hemel-and-Aarde Valley to Somerset West.

SomerZicht is owner-managed and the owners also live on the property. Guests are welcomed personally and superb hospitality is ensured.
SomerZicht has a large garden with pool and stunning views of the surrounding coastal mountains. We offer safe and secure parking, free WiFi and satellite television.
SomerZicht has 3 B&B rooms and 2 Self Catering Suites. The Suites can be booked as B&B rooms as well. Both the B&B rooms and the Self Catering suites are spacious and stylishly decorated to create a relaxing ambience. The focus being on quality furnishings, comfortable beds and modern bathroom fittings. All have a private outdoor area which allows our guests to fully enjoy the wonderful weather and balmy evenings.
B&B Room Descriptions:
Pond Room Situated at the front of the main house with private entrance and timber deck, furnished with patio table and chairs. The room features extra length beds which can be configured as either King-sized or Twin beds with 100% cotton percale linen. It offers a comfortable sitting area, a small fridge, coffee and tea making facility, satellite television, digital safe, hairdryer and free WiFi. The en-suite bathroom has shower, basin and toilet. The room is serviced daily. A sumptuous breakfast is included in the rate.
Tree Room: Situated at the front of the main house with private entrance and timber deck, furnished with patio table and chairs. The room features extra length beds which can be configured as either King-sized or Twin beds with 100% cotton percale linen. Garden Room: Located at the back of the main house with a private garden terrace. Entrance to this room is through the main house. The room is furnished with a Queen-sized bed with 100% cotton percale linen. The room has a dressing table / writing table with two chairs, a small fridge, coffee and tea making facility, satellite television, digital safe, hairdryer and free WiFi. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. The room is serviced daily. A sumptuous breakfast is included in the rate.
Self Catering Suites descriptions
Terrace Suite: Located on the upper level with private entrance via steps from the pool area. It features a private sun terrace with pool loungers and a large balcony with stunning views. The balcony is furnished with patio table and chairs and has a Weber barbeque. The suite offers a large open-plan area with bedroom and lounge, a separate kitchen and a separate bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer, gas hob, microwave/convection oven and all utensils, cutlery & crockery. Extra length beds can be configured as King-sized or Twin beds with 100% cotton percale linen. Facilities include digital safe, hair dryer, free WiFi and satellite television.
Pool Suite: Located on the lower level near the pool. It has a sunny patio equipped with table and chairs as well as pool loungers. The suite has an open-plan lounge and kitchen area with a separate bedroom and en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. Guests are welcome to use the barbeque facility at the pool. The kitchen is equipped with fridge/freezer, gas hob, microwave/convection oven and all utensils, cutlery & crockery. Extra length beds can be configured as King-sized or Twin beds with 100% cotton percale linen. Facilities include digital safe, hair dryer, free WiFi and satellite television.
