Main purpose of Job:

Working within the Qualifications and Education Support Directorate and where required, for the wider organisation:

  1. Project Management Role

Take a project management lead role in relation to the agreed strategic priorities of the Qualifications function ensuring :

(a)the delivery of designated key qualification development projects

(b)effective planning, scheduling and delivery of new general and vocational & applied qualifications and changes to existing qualifications

(c)that the materials for accreditation and approval are delivered accurately and in a timely manner as determined by the planning schedule

(d)the effective management of qualification data and regulatory systems

(e)effective management of staff to achieve the above

  1. Monitoring, Review And Evaluation

Take a project management lead role in relation to the monitoring, review and evaluation of the delivery of the agreed strategicpriorities and plans within the Qualifications function's annual development plan relevant to theQualifications function

  1. Management Of Staff

Deploy staff to deliver the required range of identified clerical and administrative support.

  1. High Level Support

Provide high level support and management for specific tasks as identified by the Director of Qualifications and Education Support and Qualifications Assistant Directors and represent and support the Assistant Directors (Qualifications) at both internal and external meetings

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. To lead on projects to support the development and delivery of both the General and Vocational & Applied Qualifications strategy and action plan and in particular :

(i)to support the development of qualifications and associated processes

(ii)to provide information and data to help inform the development, monitoring, review and refinement of the qualifications commissioning strategy and plan

(iii)to engage with both internal and external stakeholders to help inform the development, monitoring, review and refinement of the strategy and plan

(iv)to help inform the nature of strategic priorities in the context of evolving government policies in Wales and England

  1. To lead on the process of monitoring the delivery of general and vocational & applied qualifications and to advise on the refinement and fitness for purpose of these qualifications.
  1. To oversee the qualifications development process and to ensure that :

(i)deadlines for submissions are met

(ii)assessment materials are provided

(iii)submissions to funding bodies and government departments are managed

  1. To ensure the effective management of qualification data, in relation to the Qualifications Directorate.
  1. To manage staff as required to deliver clerical and administrativesupportfor the Qualifications function (and the wider organisation as required) including word processing, presentations, proof reading, copyright permissions, taking meeting notes and uploading documents.
  1. To represent WJEC in meetings and in particular :

(i)internally in relation to qualification development

(ii)involving stakeholders, regulators, governmentofficials, other awarding bodies on general and vocational and applied qualification developments

(iii)deputising for the Assistant Directors (Qualifications) as required and in particular on relevant internal working groups and committees to ensure that decisions are implemented;

  1. To carry out any other duties, commensurate with the level of the post, as determined by the Assistant Directors(Qualifications).
