LEADearth Fellowship

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and Genpact India are proud toinvite applications for LEADearth Fellowship 2015-16as part of LEADearthSHIP (A TERI-Genpact Youth Initiative). LEADearthSHIP is a youth program on leadership and sustainability primarily for undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognized universities and institutions of higher learning in Delhi NCR.

LEADearthSHIP aims to be the spring board for future youth leaders in India. It is based on the belief that young people of the country must be engaged in ideation, innovation and action that would ensure holistic development of the nation.

Project Objectives

Prepare youth for leadership roles in their institutions, communities and cities.

Facilitate understanding of innovation and cutting edge sustainable practices by industry leaders.

Impart knowledge on the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit) of business and enable learning through the example of sustainability initiatives by leading businesses in India.

Develop competencies in young people to integrate sustainability in thought and practice in any field and vocation.

LEADearthSHIPwas launched in 2013 with a grant from Tetra Pak India with the LEADearthFellowship as its mainstay. So far, 54 Fellows have been mentored. Starting 2015, the program will be supported by Genpact India. For 2015-2016, 40 students will be selected from Delhi NCR as LEADearth Fellows through a rigorous selection process. Each applicant has to conceptualize a project/campaignon a sustainable development issue which should be in line with his/her skills and expertise.

How does LEADearth Fellowship work?

Stage 1: Application and Selection of Fellows
August - October 2015

Application forms to be posted online and sent to colleges.

60applicants to be shortlisted for personal interviews basis written application.

40 students to be selected as LEADearth Fellows through interviews.

Stage 2: Orientation Week

November 2015

Week long residential program will be held at a location identified by TERI and Genpact India.

Top 10 projects from the pool of 40 projects to be selected by TERI and Genpact for funding and implementation.

Fellows to be divided into groups of 4 to work on each of the 10 selected projects.

Sessions by experts on sustainable development, leadership, CSR, conflict resolution, communication and project management.

Classroom sessions interspersed with field visits to NGOs, social enterprises and schools.

Stage 3: Project Finalization and Implementation

November 2015 – April 2016

Fellows to finalize and implement projects in groups of 4 over a period of 6 months.

Fellows to be provided with visiting cards and I-cards.

Two 1-day Labs to be held in each city to gauge the progress made by each group and to provide technical expertise on monitoring, evaluation and documentation.

Fellows to be invited to participate in TERI’s YUVA Meet 2016. A few Fellows will be selected to participate in the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) 2016.

Mentoring and guidance by TERI at every level.

Stage 4: Project Documentation and Reporting
May 2016

Fellows to document theirprojects in digital and print formats as prescribed by TERI.

Each group will be required to (a) write a 1500 word report on the projects (b) make a 5 minute film on the project (c) reach out to 500 people through talks and presentations within their institutions.

Stage 5: Closing Workshop and Felicitation

June 2016

Fellows to participate in a day long concluding workshop to share learnings and experiences.

Successful fellows will be presented with certificates and mementos upon completion of their internships.

Two projects to be awarded the ‘Outstanding Project Award’. Members of the winning teams will receive cash prizes from TERI and Genpact India.

Instructions for filling up the application form:

1.The form is to be filled in English. All fields are compulsory, except wherever mentioned.

2.The selected Fellows will have to sincerely commit to the program by signing a declaration upon selection and mandatorily attend all its activities throughout the year. Failing to do so will result in elimination of the Fellow from the Fellowship and may also result in financial penalty.

3.For the section, ‘Self-Description’, please use ONLY the space provided in the form.

4.Please attach a recent self-attested photograph of yourself.

5.All applicants must compulsorily send the consent form signed by their principals/ HODs along with the application form.

6.Orientation of selected Fellows will be held in a location identified by TERI and Genpact India.

7.Selected Fellows would receive a certificate from TERI and GenpactIndia upon successful completion of the entire fellowship program.

8.No part of the responses to questions in the application form should be plagiarized / copied. Each application form will be thoroughly checked for originality.

9.Please enclose your latest résumé /curriculum vitae. Applications without a résumé will be rejected.

10.Last date to apply: 25September 2015

12.TERI and Genpact Indiashall not be liable for the postponement or discontinuance of the Fellowship if it is prevented, hindered or delayed by a Force Majeure.

LEADearth Fellowship is an intensive programme, requiring sincere time commitment. Do you think you would be able to dedicate the required time and resources to the programme? If yes, how do you plan to balance the fellowship and your academic schedule?
