A Studio JUST for BOYS!

A Studio JUST for BOYS!

A studio JUST for BOYS!

Our vision is to provide a fresh and unique approach to teaching young dancers in a way that nurtures creativity, builds relationships and inspires a love for dance!

Our focus is to develop confidence, courage and self-esteem in each student. We aim to provide an encouraging environment; a place of fun, flair, imagination and creativity!

JBD serves our community with a quality program that exists on the foundations of friendship and mateship, as we lead our students with integrity, passion and professionalism.

About Us –

Director Belinda MacDonald and her team of male only instructors are industry professionals and are extremely passionate about providing quality dance education to boys.

Belinda has been in the dance industry for over 20 years and saw JBD as an opportunity to introduce more boys to the magic of dance. Since her early years she has competed, taken exams, taught all ages from preschool to adults in all styles of dance including tap and hip hop! Her passion is being able to provide a fun learning environment while training technical expressive dancers. Her motto is ‘anyone can dance!’.

Teachers:

Belinda MacDonald: Teacher/Owner

Mitchell Connolly: Hip Hop/Break

Max Paterson: Tap

Josh Wadley: Tap

Some dance studios offer “boys only classes” but in our experience these classes are not the focus of these studios.

JBD is just that! 100% attention on students catering for their needs & creating performance opportunities for young males to express themselves in a supportive environment.

We want to offer inspiring classes and workshops for boys that are fresh. Motivating each individual to express dance freely, in a way that is supportive and encouraging.

We understand that boys learn differently to girls and have developed a program that includes different strategies and teaching methods to suit. Our classes include attributes like self expression, creativity, comradeship, respect and of course fun!

Our Pre Junior Combo class is a great example of this it combines Hip Hop and tap styles into the one single class, giving boys a chance to explore two different styles of dance.

Workshops

Each term we will be conducting a Workshop run by an industry professional in different styles of dance, including people from So You Think You Can Dance, Tap Dogs, Musical Theatres and more!

Class Descriptions

Combo Class – a class that introduces Hip Hop and Tap styles, giving young boys a chance to explore and be engaged in two different styles of dance.

Preschool Movement- these classes are for our tinniest members! They are themed and are aimed at providing musicality and fun! A great head start for our combo classes.

Hip Hop Class – Hip Hop is constantly evolving, it is a funky and soulful expression of movement used by artists such as Usher, Kayne West, Justin Timberlake & Justice Crew.

Tap Class – A tapping sound is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of a specialised shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and a serious of rhythms and beats. Also great for just letting out noise!

Crew (showtroupe): These classes are via invitation/audition only. During these classes, they will learn routines and extra skills for competitions/shows/ hip hop battles. There are many perks to being a part of this awesome team! Such as being able to attend Aus Tap festival, Interstate competitions, Other dance conventions, personalized T-shirt and more! (STUDENTS FROM BOTH LOCATIONS CAN AUDITION/BE INVITED TO THIS CLASS).

Dads classes- A fun pressure free class for a laugh! Meet other dads in the area and learn awesome moves from our industry professional teachers.
