A RESOLUTION recognizing and honoring the Montgomery County High School Lady Indians basketball team for winning the 10th Region Girls Basketball Tournament and advancing to the 2013 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament.

WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Lady Indians entered the 2012-2013 basketball season with a determined will for excellence, unified in their mission to win and stand as champions; and

WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Lady Indians basketball team fought valiantly throughout the season, competing in hard-fought battles at Bullitt East Tournament, Gateway Holiday Classic, Ashland Kitten Shootout, and 40th District Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Lady Indians basketball team stands as one of the most defensively and offensively sound teams in the state, storming through the season with a 28-6 record and rising in the 10th Region High School Basketball Tournament with a 58-52 victory over Campbell County High School on March 6, 2013; and

WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Lady Indians basketball team is an inspired group of competitors, led by Head Coach Janie Robinson and her coaching staff, and driven by players Anjela Alicea, Sarah Arnett, Julia Barker, Olivia Colliver, Caitlin Conyers, Kourtney Current, Aiyanna Jones, Keria Lockett, Elizabeth Newkirk, Erica Rogers, Hunter Scott, Hannah Spence, Macie Spence, Alyssa Terrell, Schyler Tipton, and Kristen Williams; and

WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Lady Indians basketball team merits honor and recognition for their perseverance, spirited efforts, and hard-work in advancing to the 2013 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament, leading as a positive example for all youth in this great Commonwealth to emulate;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby recognize and honor the Montgomery County High School Lady Indians Basketball Team, Head Coach Janie Robinson, Principal Jim Dusso, and assistants and support staff, upon winning the 10th Region Girls Basketball Tournament and advancing to the 2013 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament.

Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator R.J. Palmer II for presentation to the Montgomery County High School Lady Indians Basketball Team.
