A RESOLUTION recognizing and honoring the Letcher County Central High School Lady Cougars basketball team for winning the 14th Region Girls Basketball Tournament and advancing to the 2013 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament.
WHEREAS, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars entered the 2012-2013 basketball season with a determined will for excellence, unified in their mission to win and stand as champions; and
WHEREAS, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars basketball team fought valiantly throughout the season, competing in hard-fought battles at the VA/KY Border War, Surf N Slam Tournament, WYMT Classic, Coaches vs. Cancer game, and the 53rd District Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars basketball team stands as one of the most defensively and offensively sound teams in the state, storming through the season with a 29-5 record and rising in the 14th Region High School Basketball Tournament with a 41-40 victory over the Perry County Central Lady Commodores on March 5, 2013, at E.A. Diddle Arena; and
WHEREAS, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars basketball team is an inspired group of competitors, led by Head Coach William Adams and his coaching staff, and driven by players Kelly Adams, Sara Baker, Kristina Bentley, Emily Blair, Vannah Breeding, Courtney Brock, Keisha Collins, Alexis Cornett, Julie Cornett, Amber Crawford, Kelah Eldridge, Shelby Hall, Kim Meade, Kelli Quillen, Cheyanne Stidham, and Samantha Tubbs; and
WHEREAS, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars basketball team merits honor and recognition for their perseverance, spirited efforts, and hard work in becoming the 14th Region Champions and advancing to the 2013 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament, leading as a positive example for all youth in this great Commonwealth to emulate;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate does hereby recognize and honor the Letcher County Central High School Lady Cougars basketball team, Head Coach William Adams, Principal Danny Vance, and assistants and support staff, upon winning the 14th Region Girls Basketball Tournament and advancing to the 2013 Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament.
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Johnny Ray Turner for presentation to the Letcher County Central High School Lady Cougars basketball team.
