A RESOLUTION honoring Megan Ducharm upon being crowned Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2014.
WHEREAS, on January 12, 2014, at the Ursuline Arts Center on the campus of the Sacred Heart School in Louisville, Kentucky, Megan Ducharm was named Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2014; and
WHEREAS, Megan Ducharm was first runner-up in the competition in 2013. Her crown in 2014 was the culmination of a year of hard work and perseverance, and upon winning the title she will compete in the Miss Teen USA 2014 Pageant at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in Nassau, Bahamas; and
WHEREAS, Megan Ducharm is an 18-year-old resident of Shelbyville, Kentucky. She was a member of Shelby County High School's Class of 2013, and she is beginning several internships at law firms and veterinary practices; and
WHEREAS, Megan Ducharm's modeling and pageant career is extensive, and her success in those fields is a testament not only to her beauty, but also to her indelible spirit and work ethic. She has modeled for international hair and skin care brands such as John Frieda and Biore, has appeared in Seventeen magazine, and has been featured on four magazine covers; and
WHEREAS, Megan Ducharm's charitable work is extraordinary, as she is a proud supporter of the Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She recently created her very own donation boxes in order to raise money for Best Buddies; and
WHEREAS, this honorable body hereby honors Megan Ducharm for being named Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2014, commends her for her hard work on behalf of Best Buddies, and wishes her the best of luck as she continues to make her family and the people of this Commonwealth proud in the Miss Teen USA 2014 Pageant;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate hereby honors Megan Ducharm for being named Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2014, and extends to her best wishes as she moves on to compete in the Miss Teen USA 2014 Pageant in Nassau, Bahamas.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Megan Ducharm.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Brandon Smith for delivery.
