A RESOLUTION honoring Campbellsville University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor Dr. Franklin D. Cheatham upon his retirement.

WHEREAS, Dr. Franklin D. Cheatham, a native Kentuckian, graduated from Taylor County High School in 1961 and earned his bachelor's degree from Campbellsville College and his doctoral degree from the University of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cheatham has dedicated nearly fifty years to educating young people and has been an integral part of the Campbellsville University faculty since 1973; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure at Campbellsville, Dr. Cheatham has been an active member and leader of many committees and organizations of both peers and students alike, including Sigma Zeta, the Board of Trustees, and the Presidential Search Committee; and

WHEREAS, beyond his responsibilities at the university, Dr. Cheatham has served his community in many capacities including as a member of the board of directors of Taylor Regional Hospital and the International Association of Baptist Colleges and Schools; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his service and achievement, Dr. Cheatham has received numerous awards and honors, including the Sears-Roebuck Foundation Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award, and he was named a Campbellsville University Distinguished Alumni and twice named the Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year; and

WHEREAS, after decades of dedication to Campbellsville University, Taylor County, and the Commonwealth, Dr. Cheatham has announced his well-deserved retirement from Campbellsville University at the end of 2014;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. This honorable body recognizes and congratulates Dr. Franklin D. Cheatham upon his retirement as senior vice president of academic affairs and professor of math and computer science of Campbellsville University.

âSection 2. This honorable body tenders Dr. Cheatham best wishes and expresses its appreciation for his 40 years of dedicated to service to Campbellsville University and education in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Dr. Franklin D. Cheatham, 30 Nottingham Court, Campbellsville, Kentucky 42718.
