A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Sergeant Kevin D. Spille.

WHEREAS, Sergeant Kevin D. Spille departed this earthly life unexpectedly on December 20, 2005, at the young age of 32 years. A graduate of Covington Catholic High School, Kevin Spille played baseball during his high school years, and continued playing at Northern Kentucky University, where he received his degree in criminal justice studies and law enforcement in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Spille joined the Kenton County Police Department as a patrol officer in 1997, and, rising through the ranks, he was promoted to Sergeant and nightshift supervisor in May, 2005. He also served as chaplain for the Kenton County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #44, and was very popular among his law enforcement colleagues. Known for his uncanny memory, his fellow officers were amazed at his ability to remember details of every call he ever answered; and

WHEREAS, this young family man was a member of Saint Cecilia Church in Independence, and, an avid Cleveland Browns fan, he belonged to the local Browns' Backer Football Club. He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly Colvin Spille, whom he married in July, 1999, a 2 year-old son, Mitchell, and a baby daughter, Kaylyn, who was not yet born at the time of her father's untimely passing. Preceded in death by his mother, Linda Spille, who died when Kevin was only 3 years old, he is survived, in addition to his wife and children, by his parents, Dennis and Sherrie Tabor Spille of Edgewood; a sister, Jamie Spille, of Edgewood; his brothers, Todd M. and Michael Spille, both of Crescent Springs, and Shean Spille, of Edgewood; and his grandmothers, Deloris Schmidt Spille, of Fort Mitchell, and Marcia Pacetti Delgado, of Mounds, Oklahoma;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate expresses its deep sense of sorrow at the passing of this young man whose future appeared to hold such promise, and extends to the family of Sergeant Kevin D. Spille its sincere condolences.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Sergeant Kevin D. Spille, and commends to his family, friends, and colleagues our wish that their sorrow might be tempered by the memories of a life well-lived.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Senator from Scott 17 for presentation to the family and friends of Sergeant Kevin D. Spille.
