A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of John Edward Lindgren.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to John Edward Lindgren, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, John Edward Lindgren was born on November 2, 1945, a native of Algona, Iowa, and longtime resident of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on January 6, 2001; and
WHEREAS, John Edward Lindgren was the loving son of Gertrude Carlson Lindgren, Newman Grove, Nebraska, and the late Reverend Eric Walter Lindgren; he was preceded in death by a brother, James Lindgren; he was the devoted husband of Suzanne Peterson Lindgren; and he was the proud father of two daughters, Kirsten Lindgren and Natalie LeBoeuf and her husband, Charlie, all of Lexington; and a son, John E. Lindgren and his wife, Maureen, Cincinnati, Ohio; he was the loving brother of a sister, Verna Broberg and her husband, Clint, Newman Grove, Nebraska; mother and father-in-law, Albert and Connie Peterson, Rockford, Illinois; sister-in-law, Annette Lindgren Andersen and her husband, Donald, Arlington Heights, Illinois and brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and DeeAnn Peterson, Marietta, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, John Edward Lindgren graduated from Columbia College, Chicago, Illinois, with a Bachelor's degree in Communications Arts; he began his tenure in the news media as a staff announcer at Moody Bible Institute's WMBI radio in Chicago in 1966, then as reporting and anchoring news and sports in Madison, Wisconsin, for 6 1/2 years, and after spending more than a year at WHAS-TV in Louisville, he joined WKYT-TV (Channel 27) in Lexington from 1979 to 1987; he then spent eighteen months in Nashville, Tennessee, and came back to Lexington as anchor at WTVQ (Channel 36) until his passing; and
WHEREAS, John Edward Lindgren, during his career in communications, exemplified the dedication, professionalism, and high standards that all members of the news media seek to achieve; and when we reflect upon the contributions he tirelessly gave to the citizens of this Commonwealth throughout his career, we are reminded that ethics and integrity played a large part toward his achievements, and his professional attitude and outlook set the standard for Lexington broadcasting; and
WHEREAS, John Edward Lindgren was a devout member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church, a member of Evangelism Resources Board of Directors in Wilmore, Kentucky, Chairman of Celebrate Jesus 2000, a member of the Board of Media Fellowship, and a past member of Hope Center Board and the Asbury College President's Committee; he was a former Chairman of the Elders, Choir Director and Song Leader at Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and he was a frequent speaker at church and civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, John Edward Lindgren will best be remembered and admired for his strong Christian beliefs that allowed him to love and serve God with all his heart, and soul, and mind, and strength, and in doing so, he contributed toward the happiness of others with the spirit that dwelled within him; his life was illustrated through his faith, and his perpetual serenity and uninterrupted cheerfulness was demonstrated to the public throughout his battle with cancer; and
WHEREAS, the passing of John Edward Lindgren has left a void that can never be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of John Edward Lindgren, and extends to his family and kind, faithful, and loving friends, its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. The passion, dedication, intelligence, and social consciousness John Edward Lindgren brought to this Commonwealth will never be forgotten, and his influence will continue through all the lives he touched.
Section 3. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of John Edward Lindgren.
Section 4. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Suzanne Peterson Lindgren, 3156 Blenheim Way, Lexington, Kentucky 40503.
