A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of George Leonard Cambron II.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to George Leonard Cambron II, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, George L. Cambron II was born on August 4, 1953, a native of Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on March 25, 2004; and

WHEREAS, George L. Cambron II was the loving son of Leonard and Bettye Cambron; he was the devoted husband of Vivian Cambron; he was the proud father of a son, George Leonard "Lenny" Cambron III, and a daughter, Jacqueline Danielle "Jackie" Cambron; he was the caring brother of a sister, Sherry Logsdon; and he also leaves behind many other loving family members; and

WHEREAS, George L. Cambron II graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1977; he later earned his Aviation Safety Inspector Certification and graduated with a masters degree in business administration in 1987 from Webster University; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from college, George L. Cambron II began a distinguished career as an accomplished pilot in the military by attending the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia; he graduated first in his class, receiving top honors, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in August 1977; he then attended Naval Flight School in 1978 in Pensacola, Florida; his tremendous skill led to his involvement in numerous missions including flight and instruction in the O-V 10 Reconnaissance and A-4 Sky Hawk attack jet aircraft, flying along the North Korean borders, and flying along United States borders assisting United States Customs with drug interdiction operations; he was also qualified on aircraft carriers including the USS Eisenhower and USS Lexington; and

WHEREAS, when Major George L. Cambron II resigned his commission in 1988, he had received many honors and awards; notably, he was given a Letter of Commendation from Admiral Howe in recognition of his remarkable Advanced Jet Training program for the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, George L. Cambron II took his extensive flight training and experience back to Louisville where he began work as a pilot for United Parcel Service and the Kentucky Air National Guard; in 1996, he was promoted to Captain on the B-767/B-757 aircrafts at UPS; he was also a flight instructor on the same aircrafts; and

WHEREAS, George L. Cambron II had many talents and interests; he was a businessman, serving for four years as the president and owner of Cambron Trailers, Inc., which in 1993 was the third most successful Sundowner Horse Trailer Dealership in the nation; he also sold jet aircraft and worked as an instructor for World Wide Warbirds in Phoenix, Arizona; in 1998, he began Superior Flight, Inc., an FAA approved training program he developed to teach civilian pilots to fly ex-military surplus jet aircraft; he also enjoyed performing in airshows across the nation, flying in his own Russian MiG-17 fighter jet; and

WHEREAS, George L. Cambron II was an outstanding pilot who spread his love of flying through educating and entertaining others; and

WHEREAS, the passing of George L. Cambron II has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of George Leonard Cambron II and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of George Leonard Cambron II.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the wife of George L. Cambron II, Mrs. Vivian Cambron, 9003 Seaton Springs Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky 40222.
