A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Dalton Dingus.

WHEREAS, Dalton Dingus of White Oak, Kentucky, was born in Floyd County, Kentucky, on March 14, 2003, to Tommy and Jessica Reed Dingus; and

WHEREAS, Dalton Dingus had a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, known as cystic fibrosis. Doctors diagnosed Dalton Dingus with this disease at the tender age of four years old and gave him only two years to live. Courageously, he battled the disease which makes breathing difficult for almost six years; and

WHEREAS, his neighbor requested on Facebook that people send Dalton Dingus Christmas cards on Facebook to show their love and support. As a result, he received tens of thousands of Christmas cards daily from all fifty states and every continent except Antarctica. During the Christmas season, he received approximately 800,000 Christmas cards from kind-hearted people from all around the world. His family would like to have Dalton listed in a future edition of Guinness World Records for receipt of the most Christmas cards; and

WHEREAS, just two months from his tenth birthday, Dalton Dingus died of cystic fibrosis. Many well-wishers posted rest-in-peace messages through Facebook and other social media; and

WHEREAS, Dalton Dingus was survived by his parents, Tommy and Jessica Reed Dingus; his maternal grandparents, Johnnie and Gay Allen Reed of Salyersville, Kentucky; and his paternal grandparents, Edison and Theresa Allen Dingus of Salyersville, Kentucky. The loss of Dalton Dingus, a young boy who bravely battled cystic fibrosis, is mourned not only by his loving family, his friends, and his community, but also by many individuals throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States and the entire world;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate expresses its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Dalton Dingus, a young man who was so loved and admired by his family and friends, his community, his fellow Kentuckians, and well-wishers from all over the world.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Dalton Dingus.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Robert Stivers II for delivery to the family of Dalton Dingus.
