A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor of Senator Bob Leeper upon his retirement from this Honorable Body following 24 years of service to the people of this Commonwealth.
WHEREAS, Senator Bob Leeper was born on December 8, 1958. A proud native of Paducah, he diligently served the people of his hometown as a member of the Paducah Chamber of Commerce, City Commissioner, and Mayor Pro Tem; and
WHEREAS, Senator Leeper is a graduate of Sherman College of Chiropractic and a practicing chiropractor in Paducah; and
WHEREAS, Senator Bob Leeper was elected to the Kentucky Senate in 1990 to represent Senate District 2, and has since worked diligently to serve the people of his district and to improve the lives of all Kentuckians; and
WHEREAS, as a member of this body, Senator Bob Leeper has served as chair of the Appropriations and Revenue Committee; on the Transportation Committee; on the Interim Joint Committees on Appropriations and Revenue, Natural Resources and Environment, and Transportation; on various budget review subcommittees; and as co-chair of the Capital Projects and Bond Oversight Committee; and
WHEREAS, Senator Bob Leeper's work on the budget has set him apart as a leader, a problem solver, and a thinker on the most complex issues that come before the General Assembly. His ability to treat members of both political parties equally has earned him a tremendous amount of respect and has allowed him to assess each budget with equanimity and fairness. It is this unwavering fairness that has made his service to this body so remarkable, and his work for the people of Kentucky so extraordinary; and
WHEREAS, throughout his 24 years of public service, Senator Leeper has served the people of this Commonwealth admirably and with his characteristic steadiness and resolve. He is a member of well-deserved merit in this body, a great Kentuckian, and a fine human being. This body hereby commends Senator Leeper for his service to the General Assembly and wishes him the best of luck as he begins this new chapter of his life;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The members of the Senate hereby salute the Senator from Paducah; express their sincere appreciation for his service to his constituents, the General Assembly, and this Commonwealth; and wish him Godspeed as he awaits new and exciting challenges.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Senator Bob Leeper.
