Competing in the Games was a challenge for the two young athletes, as they were riding ponies they had never ridden before. Proudly donning uniforms for the United States, they competed admirably and although they did not win, the extraordinary accomplishment of making the team and competing against such world-class athletes was a humbling, once-in-a-lifetime experience for the girls; and
WHEREAS, Paige Pence is a 15-year-old sophomore at St. Francis High School in Louisville, Kentucky. An Anchorage resident, she lives with her parents, Ruth Ann Cox and Steve Pence, and has an older brother, Joseph, who is a sophomore at Bellarmine University; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Camp is also 15 years old. A sophomore at Louisville Collegiate School, she lives in Crestwood with her parents, Missy and Hendry Camp, and her older sister, Mary Peabody, who competed in the 2012 Mounted Games International Exchange in Australia; and
WHEREAS, this honorable body commends rare athletic achievement, and it congratulates Paige Pence and Sarah Camp for their efforts at the 2013 Mounted Games International Exchange, acknowledges the hard work and sacrifice of their families and support systems, and wishes both girls the best of luck as they continue to make their communities and the citizens of this Commonwealth proud;
