CLASSIFIED POSITION

SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAEDUCATOR

POSITION OPENS: August 1, 2017

The Conway School District is seeking an outstanding qualified candidate for the position of Paraeducator to work with students receiving special education services.

HOURS: 4 Hours a day

POSITION START DATE: September 5, 2017*

*Potential for training and orientation dates in August.

THIS IS A CONTINUING POSITION.

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS REQUIRED:

·  Interest in on-going training required.

·  An AA Degree or higher, or Demonstrated Competency-Based Certification/Experience in an Education Field

·  Verifiable experience modifying curriculum for students under the supervision of classroom teacher and special education teacher.

·  Experience implementing modified curriculum for students with disabilities.

·  Experience working with special education students is preferred.

·  Experience supporting severely impacted students with disabilities, including helping students

with toileting and other hygiene-related needs, is preferred.

·  Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.

·  Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is required.

·  Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive manner with both students and adults.

·  Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly.

·  Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision.

·  Bilingual Language skills in Spanish/English are preferred.

·  Current First Aid Card is preferred.

Any of the above essential job skills may be waived by the District Superintendent.

COMPENSATION: The position will be compensated according to the negotiated agreement between the Conway School District No. 317 and Public School Employees (PSE) of Conway.

Pursuant to Chapter 486, Laws of 1987, all applicants must complete the disclosure form provided by the district at the time of application.

BACKGROUND CHECK ON RECOMMENDED CANDIDATE:

The district will also make a reference check inquiry on recommended candidates. According to 1992 legislation, ESHB 2581, all school employees with regularly scheduled unsupervised access to children are required to have a criminal background check, which includes fingerprints. Fingerprinting costs are the responsibility of the individual.

IMMIGRATION REFORM AND CONTROL ACT REQUIREMENT:

All new employees are required by law to submit documentation to the district proving eligibility to work in the USA by completing employment eligibility from within three (3) days of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

All district employees are required to attend an HIV/HBV presentation or supply evidence of a similar course to the district. In addition, all employees are required to attend a Sexual Harassment and safe touching presentation.
