A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of James O. Tilford.

WHEREAS, James O. Tilford was a son of the Commonwealth, having been born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1925; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tilford's exemplary career as a laboratory technician for DuPont spanned more than three decades. He was committed to the Kentucky Republican Party and an avid University of Kentucky fan; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tilford was a former member and Deacon of Fern Creek Baptist Church. He was a devout and faithful member of Victory Christian Church and attended New Life Church. He was also a very dedicated member of the Gideon Society and various nonprofit organizations, founding member of Trinity World Outreach, and he was involved in Dare to Care; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tilford, on December 24, 2013, departed this life, leaving his family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tilford is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna "Ruthie" Tilford; two sons, James O. Tilford, Jr. and his wife, Sallye, and Michael G. Tilford and his wife, Georgia; one daughter, Robin Lynn Gillespie and her husband, Tim; two brothers, Louis and Daniel Tilford; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and community of James O. Tilford.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of James O. Tilford.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Anna Tilford, 1207 Taxus Top Lane #104, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
