A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Captain David Lyon.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Captain David Lyon, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Captain David Lyon, of Sandpoint, Idaho, was born on March 31, 1985, and he traversed these earthly bounds on December 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Captain David Lyon was the beloved husband of Captain Dana Pounds Lyon of Lexington, Kentucky, and he leaves behind many other friends and family members who loved him dearly; and

WHEREAS, Captain David Lyon attended Sandpoint High School and was a 2008 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy; and

WHEREAS, Captain David Lyon was assigned to the 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base; and

WHEREAS, the life of Captain David Lyon ended prematurely when the Taliban intentionally and deliberately attacked the convoy he was in with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device while performing a combat advisory mission in Kabul, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Captain David Lyon's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Force Combat Action Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, Meritorious Service Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the highest respect for Captain David Lyon and is deeply grateful for the ultimate sacrifice he made for the freedom of all Americans; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Captain David Lyon has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate, both individually and collectively, expresses their most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Captain David Lyon and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Captain David Lyon.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit two copies of this Resolution to Captain Dana Pounds Lyon, 4860 Seton Place, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
