A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Alex C. Johnson.

WHEREAS, Alex C. Johnson was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on January 16, 1981, to Judy and Lee Bernard Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson departed this earthly life on December 20, 2013, leaving to cherish his memory a host of family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Bowling Green and Transylvania University in Lexington. Upon graduation he chose to remain in Lexington, where he lived for the last 14 years, touching many lives; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was an avid outdoorsman. He loved nature and loved spending time biking, camping, and hiking in the Red River Gorge. He is responsible for several gardens, bonsai trees, and cacti, which he carefully cultivated; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was an outspoken environmentalist. He often rode his bicycle to work and advocated buying locally produced products; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson enjoyed playing numerous sports, especially soccer, and competing in bicycle races. He was an avid reader, and his love of music brought him to many concerts. He was naturally talented in both art and language; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson worked as a campus chef at the University of Kentucky. He was a long-time food service worker, where he regularly interacted with guests and co-workers and shared with them his warm nature and kind spirit; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is survived in this life by his parents; his sister, Cayce; his grandparents, Roy and Sammy Ragland; numerous cousins; and his beloved cat, Mahgee. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Claudine Johnson; and his uncle, Thomas Franklin Johnson; and

WHEREAS, the members of this honorable body wish to convey their sense of sorrow and express their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Johnson. His kind, gentle, and free spirit will be missed by all who knew him;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Alex C. Johnson, and extends its sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Alex C. Johnson.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Lee and Judy Johnson, 2093 Dyeford Road, Alvaton, Kentucky 42122.
