A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Charlie Sutton.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Charlie Sutton.

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was born on October 21, 1941, a native son of the Commonwealth and a lifelong resident of Georgetown, Kentucky, and traversed these earthly bounds on October 25, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was Scott County's youngest sheriff and first county judge executive; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton served the city of Georgetown as a city councilman from 1968 to 1969, as sheriff from 1970 to 1973, as county judge from 1974 to 1977, as county judge executive from 1978 to 1987, as assistant police chief from 1994 to 1996, and as police chief from 1996 to 1999; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton served the Commonwealth as deputy secretary of the Kentucky Justice Cabinet from 1987 to 1990; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was involved in helping to bring the Toyota plant to Georgetown and in creating the Georgetown bypass; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was instrumental in developing the Scott County Park and the baseball field at the park was named in his honor; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was inducted into the Scott County Schools Hall of Fame in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Mount Vernon Lodge 14 F and AM, and the Oleika Shrine Temple; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was the beloved father of Doug Sutton, Terri Sutton, and Scotty Sutton, and the grandfather of five; and

WHEREAS, Charlie Sutton was the loving son of Dillard Preston and Helen Littral Sutton, who preceded him in death; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Charlie Sutton has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Charlie Sutton and extends to his family and friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. The House of Representatives recognizes that Charlie Sutton was a prominent and respected member of the Georgetown community and deeply loved by his family and friends.

Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Charlie Sutton.

Section 4. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Scotty Sutton, 403 Hiawatha Trail, Georgetown, Kentucky 40324-1003.
