Our Approach

Management Team

Cathy Wilson - Proprietor

Karen Williams - Manager

Hannah Williams - Deputy Manager

Staff

Our staff are qualified and trained at a high standard. All staff attend regular training courses and are given the opportunity to further their qualifications. All staff pictures and qualifications are displayed in our reception area.

The staff/child ratios within which we work are:

  • 0-2 years 1:3
  • 2-3 years 1:4
  • 3 plus 1:8

Routines

All children in our care are treated individually and we follow parent’s wishes at all times. Before a child/baby joins the nursery we discuss with parents the routine they wish us to follow, this helps the child to settle into nursery with more confidence and enables the staff to get to know the child and understand their needs more fully.

There are some set routines in which we work towards i.e. group story time, snack time.

Our Menu

Most of our fruit, vegetables and meat are supplied fresh weekly from Bellis farm. This gives the children the right nutrition needed when having a busy and fun day. Our menu is checked by the health dietician at Wrexham Maelor hospital to ensure that the children are getting the right meals a day. Throughout the day the children are provided with breakfast, a morning snack, hot dinner and pudding and also a afternoon snack.

Our chickens

Redbrook currently have seven chickens, most of our children enjoy helping to care and look after our chickens.

Activities

Activities are planned by staff to meet each child’s individual developmental needs. Guidance from ‘Birth to three matters’ is taken into consideration when planning activities. We also ensure that children are working towards the Foundation Phase as set out by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Activities are varied and staff always join in and interact with the children.

Activity planning is on display in each of the rooms for parents to view.

Babies

All activities planned for babies are age and stage appropriate, we take guidance from ‘Birth to three matters’.

Activities include heuristic play, music and movement, messy play, ball pool play, art and craft, quiet time, having cuddles and much more.

Babies have access to our secure outdoor area at all times, parents are asked to provide the appropriate clothing depending on the season.

Observations on each child are noted and recorded in their developmental record; these are available for parents to view on request. We also note progress in daily diaries these are available to take home at the end of each day; diaries also include how the child’s eaten, slept, nappy changes and activities enjoyed.

Toddlers

Toddler activities are also planned depending on age and stage of development.

Taking guidance from ‘Birth to three matters’ the children enjoy activities such as jigsaws, role play, push along and ride on toys, messy play, heuristic play, music and movement, story time and many more.

Toddlers have access to our secure outdoor area at all times, parents are asked to provide the appropriate clothing depending on the season. This ensures the children get the opportunity to explore different types of weather and the changes in the environment.

As with babies parents are provided with a daily diary, and staff record observations in development records these are available to view on request.
