A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of Brad Davis.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Brad Davis, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Brad Davis was a native son of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and in particular of Scott County, Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama with a degree in journalism and an Executive Masters of Business Administration; and

WHEREAS, after graduation, Brad Davis began the first steps of his highly successful broadcast career at WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Alabama; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis continued his career at Lexington's WKYT-TV as a sports news anchor; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis took the next step in his promising career and became the General Manager at Cawood Ledford Productions, working in concert with the legendary sports caster; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis assumed the position of assistant sports information director for basketball at the University of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis continued his prestigious career and accepted a position in the Southeastern Conference as an assistance commission, and then was promoted to associate commissioner for championships; and

WHEREAS, the aptitude for excellence that Brad Davis showed in his professional life was carried over in his membership in the Southside Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was a leader in the church's restoration project; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis was active in and gave generously of his time for social issues, actively serving in Operation New Birmingham, to promote understanding among the city's racial and ethnic groups; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis was the loving and beloved son of Joyce and Bob Davis; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis was the loving and beloved father of Stephen Davis, Andrea Davis and Caroline Davis; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis was the loving and beloved brother of Cindy Davis VanHoose; and

WHEREAS, Brad Davis departed this Earth on March 2, 2006;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives, in concert with Representative Charlie Hoffman, hereby expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its most sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Brad Davis on the occasion of his passing.

Section 2. The House of Representatives affirms that Brad Davis' contributions to the sports community, and to the communities in which he has been a resident, are manifold and great, and will resonate in the hearts and minds of all the individuals fortunate enough to have made his acquaintance, or have otherwise benefited from his good works.

Section 3. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Brad Davis.
