A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor of Representative Julie Raque Adams upon her retirement from this Honorable Body following four years of service to the people of this Commonwealth.

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. A proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and St. Mary's College, she received a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University; and

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams has served both the private and public sector with enthusiasm, determination and grace. She is the founder of the public affairs firm Adams & Call, Inc., which provides clients with public- and government-relations services; and

WHEREAS, in 2002, Representative Julie Raque Adams was elected to the first Louisville Metro Council, and overwhelmingly won re-election to that body in 2004. During her tenure on the council, she championed causes involving economic development and reducing the operating costs of local government; and

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 2010. She represents House District 32, which includes part of Jefferson County; and

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams brought to the General Assembly a wealth of experience in governmental affairs, having previously served on Senator Mitch McConnell's staff, as a lobbyist for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and as an employee of Congresswoman Anne Northup; and

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams serves as Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee and the Health and Welfare Committee; she is also a member of the Licensing and Occupations Committee and the Budget Review Subcommittee for Postsecondary Education. As a member of the House of Representatives, she has advocated for a strong business environment in this Commonwealth as well as for health and welfare issues that will benefit a future generation of Kentuckians; and

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams is a pillar of the Louisville community. She serves on the board of the Family Scholar House and the McConnell Center at the University of Louisville, and is a former board member of the University of Louisville's Early Learning Campus; and

WHEREAS, Representative Julie Raque Adams's devotion to her home city and to this Commonwealth should rightfully be praised by this body, which also commends her for her four years of service to her constituents. She is hereby applauded for the good work she has done on behalf of Louisville, praised for her work ethic and diligence on behalf of the causes she holds dear, and granted best wishes as she begins this new chapter of her life;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of the Kentucky House of Representatives salute the Lady from Jefferson 32; express their sincere appreciation for her service to her community, the General Assembly, and this Commonwealth; and wish her Godspeed as she awaits new and exciting challenges.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of Representative Julie Raque Adams, and wishes her many years of good health with her husband, James Adams, and their two sons.
