A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of Donna Moore.

WHEREAS, Donna Moore was born on January 28, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, the cherished daughter of the late Ray and Iva Hobbs; and

WHEREAS, Donna Moore had a profound affinity for horses as a young girl. In 1970, she moved to Versailles, Kentucky, and there she became a legend in the Saddlebred horse industry. She made her name as an owner, breeder, trainer, and judge at some of this country's most prestigious horse shows. She was the owner of Donna Moore Stables in Versailles, and in that capacity she was known not only for being as talented a horsewoman as the business has seen, but also as a pioneer who blazed a trail for other women to become involved in the industry she so loved; and

WHEREAS, Donna Moore was known best for her show horses, but she was also involved with harness and Thoroughbred racing. She was a proud member of the World's Championship Horse Show Hall of Fame and the United Professional Horsemen's Association since its inception 46 years ago, and when she was not active on the horse circuit she was a skilled real estate developer, having developed several farms in Woodford County; and

WHEREAS, Donna Moore departed this earthly life on January 18, 2014, leaving her family, friends, and an entire Commonwealth in solemn mourning; and

WHEREAS, Donna Moore was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband, Thomas Mitchell Moore. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa and Melinda Moore; her sister, Mary Ann Clayton and her husband, Owen; her brother, David Hobbs; her grandchildren, Ashley Strahan and her husband, Nate, and Erin Gatlin; and her great-grandson, Brody Thomas Strahan;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives hereby express their most profound and sincere condolences upon the passing of Donna Moore, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to her family in this time of loss.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Donna Moore.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative James Kay for delivery.
