A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of Carolyn Guthrie.
WHEREAS, Carolyn Guthrie was born on October 13, 1942, in Florence, Alabama, the cherished daughter of the late Ray T. and Ruth Davis Holt; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Guthrie was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, and mother. Along with her faith in Jesus Christ, her family was the center of her life, and she performed the role of Scout Mom, classroom mother, and taxi driver for sports teams as she exuded compassion and devotion to her children and grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Guthrie was a loyal member of the Lehman Avenue Church of Christ; and
WHEREAS, on January 7, 2014, Carolyn Guthrie departed her life of tireless devotion and entered into eternal rest, leaving her family, friends, and an entire community in solemn mourning; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Guthrie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Lowell M. Guthrie; her sons, Greg Guthrie, United States Representative and former Kentucky State Senator Brett Guthrie and his wife, Beth, Chris Guthrie and his wife, Nicole, and Kent Guthrie and his wife, Kathy; her brother, Leon Holt and his wife, Bobbi; her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Guthrie and his wife, Mary, Winston Guthrie, Marshall Guthrie and his wife, Mollie, and George McFall and his wife, Trudy; her grandchildren, Caroline, Robby, Elizabeth, Ben, Peter, John, Sarah, and Michael; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and
WHEREAS, Carolyn Guthrie will forever be remembered as a source of unconditional love, leaving behind a lasting legacy of boundless energy, unending faith, and indelible grace;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives, both individually and collectively, express their most profound and sincere condolences upon the passing of Carolyn Guthrie, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to former Kentucky State Senator Brett Guthrie in this time of loss.
Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory, honor, and appreciation of the life and legacy of Carolyn Guthrie.
Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Representative Jim DeCesare for delivery.
