A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in honor and loving memory of Calvin Luther Leisure, Sr.

WHEREAS, on May 15, 1923, Calvin Luther Leisure, Sr., was born to the late Daniel and Rosa Baize Leisure in Cool Springs, Kentucky. On Tuesday, March 27, 2012, Mr. Leisure departed this earthly life at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, in his younger years, Mr. Leisure served honorably in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II and a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The sacrifices he made throughout his army career led him to be very active in and committed to veteran's issues and affairs throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his years of serving the country, Mr. Leisure was also a farmer and a rural mail carrier. Outside of work, Mr. Leisure was a loyal member of Independence Baptist Church in McHenry and was a member of the McHenry Masonic Lodge #800 F&AM, Grace #37 OES. He was also a magistrate and a former member of the Ohio County Hospital Board; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Leisure was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Rosa Baize Leisure, his first wife, Opal Mae Milam Leisure, and his son, Milton Leisure. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Burris Hicks Leisure of Beaver Dam; two sons, Calvin L. Leisure, Jr., and his wife Jan of Rockport and Ricky Dale Leisure and his wife Norma of McHenry; three daughters, Virginia Louise Ross of Bowling Green, Jean Ellen Davis of Georgia, and Carla Mae Taylor and her husband Phillip of Hartford; one step-son, Robert Hicks of Beaver Dam; four step-daughters, Cynthia Woodrum and her husband Ron of Beaver Dam, Rebecca Quig and her husband Bill of Beaver Dam, Virginia Geary and her husband Daymond of Juneau, Alaska, and Nancy Hicks of Beaver Dam; as well as several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The House of Representatives expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and deepest sympathy upon the passing of Calvin Luther Leisure, Sr., and extends its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and community.

Section 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Calvin Luther Leisure, Sr.

Section 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Colleen Burris Hicks Leisure, 3407 Cool Springs Road, Beaver Dam, Kentucky 42320.
