The Hemphill Independent School District Board of Education met in special session for a Special Board Meetingon Monday, June 5, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. in the HISD Administration Office with the following members present:Janis Speights,Carolyn Wych, Stephen Crowell, Bob Russell, Lloyd Ford, Tom Beall, and Welden Elliott.

Also present were Mike Terry, Superintendent, Sally Butler, Business Manager, Kelli Barnett, and Paul Miller with Cox Construction.

A quorum was established by Lloyd Ford, Board President.

Bob Russell gave the invocation.

The Superintendent recommended employing personnel.

The Board approved employing the following personnel: Kathleen Christian, Paula Pruitt, and Jennifer Smith for Elementary Teachers on a motion by Welden Elliott, seconded by Carolyn Wych, passed unanimously.

The Superintendent recommended approval of one student overnight trip request.

The Board approved one student overnight trip request as presented on a motion by Welden Elliott, seconded by Stephen Crowell, passed unanimously.

FFA Stephenville, Texas June 7 – 8, 2006

The Superintendent recommended approval of sub contractors for roofing jobs.

Paul Miller with Cox Construction presented the bids from contractors for the roofing jobs.

The bids consisted of four options: Base Bid with a price of $ 161,469.00, Base Bid and Alternate 1 which consisted of Add for Tear Off of Composition Roofs with a price of $ 162,965.00, or Base Bid and Alternate 2 which consisted of Add for New Roof at Old Fieldhouse with a price of $ 181,117.00, or Base Bid and both alternates which consisted of tear off at composition roofs and new roof at old Fieldhouse with a price of $ 182,057.00

The Board approved Marsh Waterproofing Inc. in Vidor, Texas for the Base Bid and Alternate # 1 plan which totals $ 162,965.00 on a motion by Carolyn Wych, seconded by Tom Beall, passed unanimously.

The Board approved Taylor Brothers in Lufkin, Texas for the painting bids on a motion by Welden Elliott, seconded by Stephen Crowell, passed unanimously.

The Board did not go into closed session.

There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 1:05 p.m. on a motion by Welden Elliott, seconded by Carolyn Wych, passed unanimously.
