The Oak Tree

A poem based on ‘The British’ by Benjamin Zephaniah; written by Oak class

Take a pinch of Lithuania where Adriana’s from, mix it with an English rose where Kiera comes along.

Sprinkle a dash of Ireland and a little English too, this is Ben’s heritage; British through and through.

Blend some cool Ugandan where John originates. With a mix as hot as this we never get irate!

Then take a spoonful of Italian bliss where Diana gets thrown in, add them all to the mixing bowl and you will hear us sing!

Blend together Uzbek and Russia where Amir is from, add some fantastic Freddie; full of Scottish and English aplomb.

Josh is an enjoyable sideglass of a mix of France and Wales, spice it up by adding a cool Canadian and amazing African; Maa really balances the scales.

Sprinkle some fresh Punjab on top of the mix, add a dash of Glasgow where Priya flavours it.

Splash a little more English where Robert comes along; we really are a wide spread bunch who all equally belong.

Leave ingredients to simmer.

Allow time to cool.

Serve with justice as we all combine as a crew.

Mix some beachy Australian from Megan’s family, blend well with a dash of Romania as Dennis came from across the sea.

As they mix and blend allow their languages to flourish.

Pour in some fresh Indians where Simran came from, dip in some central Sri Lankan and that is where Haffee came along.

Don’t forget the Spanish royalty we have in our class; Kloe comes from blue blood that no one can surpass.

Mix some hot Ugandans where Danyaal originates then blend with Romanian Gypsies; that’s Rihanna served on the plate.

Add a pinch of America where Mia can be found, spice this up with some South African soul from Simbulele’s background.

Stir a drop of Irish from Mia’s heritage, shake this well with English for Harley, Demi and Ellie to build a bridge.

Add some intelligence, perseverance and creativity too.

Blend with respect, loyalty and friendliness.

Look after each ingredient with special care; no matter what, when or where.

Nobody is better. Nobody is worse.

We all are united as one – Our Super Oak Tree.
