CLWB NOFIO ~ABERAERON ~ SWIMMING CLUB

MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Meeting held: 6.30pm at Aberarth Village Hall

Wednesday 13th Feb. 2013

Present:Careyann Nicholson, Linda Evans, David Miles, Louisa Miles, Katherine Gwynne-Jones, Amanda Shepherd, Robin Shepherd.

Apologies:Helen Davies, Rhian Evans, Dawn Tarling, Emma Vaux.

Matters Arising: Minutes of last meeting approved as correct; Careyann Nicholson and Linda Evans only persons present at last AGM. Careyann to minute AGM as Martin Noble (Secretary) resigned during the year and was not replaced in the interim. Careyann has been in possession of the club laptop since March 2012 and is processing all gala entries. Swim Wales membership can now be done on-line Linda Evans processing renewals.

Chairmans Report: Helen Metson has resigned during the year and was not replaced in the interim, therefore no report.

Head Coaches Report:Careyann delivered report as;

The introduction of the ASA awards is working well and all beginners have achieved at least level 3. The performance awards demonstrate the progress the older swimmers have made throughout the yearand givesthem realistic targets to aim for.

Training sessions have been well attended although Sat mornings still continue to be poor. Disability swimming has been introduced on a Thurs, Huw Griffiths (Disability Swimming Wales) is very keen to introduce more swimmers into the club and is prepared to help financially with this. Nothing concrete as yet has been decided, will notify members as things develop. The summer program worked well and I am happy to approach Aberystwyth again this year to do a similar thing.

Galas have had a fair representation from club swimmers and those that have attended have done well. Those swimmers who have yet to attend a gala or have not attended for a while need to enter a NT gala to ensure that they gain times allowing them to enter events later in the year. Gala info will continue to be posted on the notice board and website. Swimmers did particularly well at this year’s Regional and National Urdd competitions and we hope to build on this success.

I have recently been invited to assist Aberaeron Junior school with their weekly swimming lessons. From the clubs point of view it is an excellent way for me to see potential swimmers for the club and invite them to attend a trail session.

Treasurers Report:Linda stated that the clubs accounts were in good order with a healthy balance in both the Current and Savings accounts. The memberships do not cover the monthly pool hire costs if a full complement of training is offered. The Club is breaking even by the reduction of training during school holidays and cancellations due to galas.

Election of Officers:Nominations were invited during the 4 weeks prior to the AGM

As a result the posts are now filled as:

CHAIRMAN DAVID MILES

VICE CHAIR VACANT no nominations

TREASURER LINDA EVANS

SECRETARY AMANDA SHEPHERD

WELFARE OFFICER DAWN TARLING

Keith Griffiths remains as Dragon Mark co-ordinator although no progress has been made with implementing it into the club. Careyann had a meeting with RDO Chris Roberts in Nov.2012 and was informed that Dragon Mark affiliation would be made available on-line making it much simpler to implement. RDO has since resigned and nothing further has been done.

A.O.B.Martin Noble resigned as Secretary during the year letter of thanks to be sent. Amanda to confirm if Rhian Evans would like to retain her post as Vice Chair as no nominations were received. Letter of thanks also to be sent to Helen Metson (Chair) and Rhian Evans (Coach) arising from their resignations.

Date of next AGM:Date and venue to be confirmed.

Date of next Club Meeting: To follow immediately after this AGM with new committee members in post.

Meeting closed:7.30pm.
