We want to inform you of an important change starting October 1, 2017.
Important note: Your service hours are not being reduced because of this change.
Beginning in October we will authorize and pay for your Homecare Worker or In-home Agency every two-weeks (14 days). We have been paying for your services twice a month. This created confusion due to the different number of days in each pay period (e.g., some pay periods had 2 Mondays and some had 3 Mondays).
We made this change so it would be easier for you and those working for you to schedule and manage hours. Starting in October, pay periods will always be two weeks (14 days). Every work week will always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday. You still get to set your schedule with your homecare worker or in-home care agency.
There will now be 26 pay periods a year instead of 24. While there are more pay periods this will mean a smaller number of hours in each pay period. The total number of hours you get a year will be the same or may be more.
The voucher you sign may show the smaller number of hours for the pay period. Again, this is not a reduction in hours or benefits.
