- Discussion Item
- Parking – President Noyes (30 minutes)
- Banning Freshman from having cars is not feasible because they work off campus and have other business to do off of campus
- Parking privileges cannot be taken away by housing because parking is a separate entity and it is something students pay for
- Maybe student housing students should park in the dirt lot
- Have to remember housing students have groceries
- Have to remember commuter students feel forgotten on campus
- Loading zones can help housing students who have groceries
- Should we close off the street in front of the library?
- For closing the street – 1 person
- Against it – 5 people
- Maybe create a roundabout in front of the library
- Maybe add another stop sign so both crosswalks have a stop sign
- Lighting could easily fix this issue
- Indifferent – 1 person
- Commuter carpool lots
- How are the current car/vanpool spots being monitored that are in front of the police station?
- How are the current fuel efficiency spots in SH2 being monitored?
- Against a carpool lot – 1 person
- Tiered parking – all prices would stay the same or become higher
- For it – 2 people
- Especially if it generates more revenue because we could then potentially create a parking garage
- Against it – 3 people
- Everyone should pay the same price and whatever spot you get is the one that you get
- One way streets
- We do not like this idea
- Not that many students use their bikes
- By having a bike lane, students that live in university glen may be encouraged to ride their bikes down rather than drive their car down
- If the bus was free, would you use it?
- Yes
- Recess – 10:06 a.m. – 10:16 a.m.
- Motion for a 10 minutes recess: Senator Hunt
- Seconded this motion: Senator Ehrich
- 5-0-0
- University Glenn Phase II– Terry M. Tarr, Assoc. Architect (30 minutes)
- Presentation is attached as a supporting document
- There used to be a plan to create over 400 single family detached homes behind our current university glen townhomes, this was stopped in 2007 because of the economic crisis
- We have to keep in mind our long term goals as a university, student housing demands and new university buildings for classes to be in, as well as CI in 2025 plans
- Eric Blane would be a good person to contact if you have suggestions about making these development plans student friendly
- Open CI Efforts – Dr. Jenkins, Assistant Professor of Communication (30 minutes)
- The affordable learning solutions initiative is a CSU wide initiative that looks into textbook costs and hardships that this causes students to have
- is the official website that they have for this initiative
- Long term goals that Dr. Jenkins has is to have a special logo or mark for classes that are low cost or no cost
- Students would more than likely sign up for those classes which would encourage professors to be a part of this program long-term
- He wants low cost or no cost majors, where all of the major has adopted these cost cutting practices
- There could be different marks in the catalog depending on the price range for required textbooks
