Who is Eligible to Apply?

Applicants must be:

  • Graduates of LSP, and
  • Members of the LSP Alumni Association (LSPAA), and
  • Members of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce (SPACC).

What is the Selection Process?

The LSP Executive Committee (EC) selects the next year’s PC from eligible candidates who have submitted this application form. The EC is comprised of the LSP immediate Past Chair, Chair, Chair-Elect, Chamber CEO, Chamber Board liaison, and LSPAA liaison.

PC members serve 1-year terms and may not serve more than six (6) consecutive terms. PC members who have served six (6) consecutive terms may apply again after sitting out for at least one (1) year. Approximately eight (8) PC positions shall be filled by persons who have not previously served on the PC, with priority given to graduates of the most recent class, the goal being that approximately one-third of the PC should be turned over each year.

Each PC consists of approximately 28 members.

LSP PC Committees

In addition to planning the LSP program and acting as Mentors to the class members,each PC member will serve on one of the following sub-committees. Please review the list as you will be asked to name your preferred committee on your application.

Class Project Committee: Assist to identify, qualify and vetthe Class Project beneficiary candidates for selection by the class;facilitate selection process, including mentoring a final candidate; and provide assistance and guidance to the class throughout execution of the selected project.

Sponsorship & Finance Committee: With EC coordination and approval, draft a budget to guide all finance-related efforts; present monthly updates to the PC/EC; communicate and coordinate cash flow issues with seminar mentors, the LSP Chair, and the Chamber finance director; coordinate and track sponsorship requests and commitments among all PC and class members to maximize the efficiency of sponsorship efforts, avoiding multiple “asks” and duplication; develop sponsorship levels and options; create sponsorship forms; send thank you letters, and follow up with current and prospective sponsors at the beginning of the calendar year to request their commitment for next year’s program.

Recruitment Committee:Organize the recruitment of prospective class members, regularly communicate with recruits, create spreadsheet with recruit names and contact information, and coordinate efforts with the rest of the PC/EC and Chamber.

Marketing and Public Relations Committee:Work with Chamber staff to update and maintain the LSP website and social media sites;develop communications for the Chamber to issue thatmarket the program, announce pertinent dates and milestones, update the class application, create seminar sponsor boards and assist class members with LSP website requests and issues, among other things that support the program.

Assessment Committee: Create quantitative and qualitative measurements to define the program’s progress and success. Research and document other leadership programs’ “best practices.”

Selection Committee:Coordinates interview day, including securing and training volunteers, and welcoming and guiding interviewees.
