A Grandmother’s Appreciation

I'm the grandmother of a teenage female, who for various reasons has lived with me and my husband for 7 years of her life. The repercussion of her 9 years when she wasn't with us has been devastating to her emotionally and she has not made some good choices in certain situations. Eventually she was in a fight at school and the victim pressed simple assault charges. She had retained legal counsel and through all of these proceedings, I was getting so upset not knowing what to do next from not having much contact with her attorney. It just so happened that someone suggested I try High Fidelity Wraparound, a new process in Greene County to help families like us. The name of the provider is Family Youth Empowerment Program. Her name came across the desk of this agency from the Juvenile Probation Office.

I received a call from them to see if we were interested in their services that was truly an answer to my prayers because I was at my wits end. We had a meeting to get to know the staff, they explained their individual roles also there was very little paper work involved. We talked a couple times a week getting ready for the meeting on her charges. They were there for us at the meeting plus had comprised a paper of my granddaughter’s strengths and goals. The case was dropped to consent and I do believe that this team’s work very much influenced the court’s decision.

I thought well, where do we go from here since this matter has been resolved? It was just a few days later that we had our first meeting. Those involved in this meeting were FYE staff, educators, Juvenile probation officers, mobile therapist, my granddaughter, her boyfriend and me. The meeting was very uplifting with no bashing but was talked out how each and every one could help her reach her goals, get through probation and ultimately to become a person in life.

I have the utmost praise and respect for the High Fidelity Wraparound process as we continue to work together for the very best outcome for our granddaughter.

PS. It's also so nice to have a buddy on the staff for our granddaughter that she can talk personally to about her problems and to know that I have someone there for me to talk to as I need at times.
