A FRIENDLY GUIDE TO YOUR DREADED EXAM

PAPER 1

WHAT TO REVISE?

- Hopefully you have already compiled a list of vocabulary for each topic – not only the lists I gave you, but also the vocabulary that we came across during reading comprehensions. > If you haven’t done them yet, it is never too late, but you need to hurry up!!!GOOGLE DOCUMENTS

- Then you need to revise and learn the vocabulary

- It is also useful to make a list of synonyms as this is the type of questions that come up very often in IB papers.

PAPER 1 – NIVEAU MOYEN – NOTE SUR 21

2 textes Niveau Moyen

PAPER 2

- Make a list of all the types of mistakes that you usually make, learn the corrections.

- Revise vocabulary related to topics that we did this year: Here is a reminder:

> Family, family relationships, friendship, love and marriage

> Education: school subjects and opinions, school systems, IB, etc...

If you want to score the best marks for language, you need to use a variety of structures, tenses, idiomatic expressions, connectors etc.(see writing check list, bonnes expressions, mots de liaison)

PAPER 2 – NIVEAU MOYEN

- Choix entre 4 sujetsse référant à la famille, l’éducation

- FORMATS:

> Article de journal

TUYAUX

You will have only 5 mns reading time for the whole paper, I would advise to go to paper 2 and chose your essay title during this time.

PAPER 1

Try to do the readings in less than an hour so that you have more time for the writing.

Never leave blanks!

If you have a doubt for one question, put the answer anyway and put a question mark next to it to be able to go back to it if you have time. If you put 2 answers the first one count!

PAPER 2

> Chose the topic according to the format, the vocabulary that you know

> Read the instructions carefully

> Use the correct style and register according to the task set.

> Make sure that you answer all parts of the question.

> Take a good care of your presentation (writing, lay out, words crossed out, capital letters, use of bold print, underlining titles, punctuation…)

> Once you have selected the topic:

- Think about good expressions and grammar to incorporate (refer in your mind to the writing check list)

- Write down all your ideas

- organise your ideas into a plan by putting numbers next to your ideas

- You could write the introduction in rough first, but do not write the whole paper in rough and then copy it down. You won’t have enough time for this

- Keep enough time to check your work carefully (10 mns)

- Make sure you have the required number of words: between 250 and 400 – NO MORE NO LESS, otherwise you loose 1 point in the final grade.
