Children to plan an act of worship
Look at a range of artefacts used in worship in Christian churches
Explore why churches are special places for Christians

PRAYER

Study Jesus’ teaching and examples of prayer and consider the meaning of the Lord’s Prayer
Consider what pupils would say if they had to produce a prayer for the dedication of a new church
IDEAS OF GOD
Explore children’s ideas of God, extend to other children in the school
Over a period of time record / recall where they see the word God. / Look at the video clips on www.cleo.net.uk on worship. Check out www.request.co.uk and those at http://pow.reonline.org.uk
Search for examples of Christian worship Music online, or use CD-ROMs to listen to types of music. Reflect on the styles of these.
Video interviews with the local vicar or other Christian leader.
Use digital cameras, or Google images to capture images of artefacts used in worship. Make a presentational package around these.
Make a book, using DTP software, explaining how the church is a special place importing clip art and reflections from the pupils.
Use an online bible such as those at http://biblecom.com to source the materials.
Use a word processing package to allow students to annotate a copy of the Lord’s prayer, using the notes or the highlighter functions
Use clipart and/or images to produce an illustrated manuscript of a prayer for the dedication.
Use www.pcfre.org.uk/db/ as a source for looking at ideas of God. Add you own thoughts / reflections onto this database.
Create you own database/survey from results in your own school / community. This could include video interviews.
Use cameras to collect data on the use of the word God in the community.

Brahman and Hindu Gods and Goddesses

Explain about Brahmin.
Learn that the sacred symbol Aum is used to represent Brahmin. Hindu prayers begin with this sound.
Learn about the 3 major deities, Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu
Hindu Worship – Puja
Explain and describe a Hindu shrine using some artefacts.
Festivals. Look at special time for Hindus.
Find out about Ghandi.
Investigate Hindu food laws. / Use www.hindunet.org [Kids and Youth link] and Hwww.hindukids.org as key resources for you and your students.
Use Google images to find pictures of the Hindu theocracy. Make a presentation of these. Check on www.cleo.net.uk for some interactive exercises on this.

Use www.youtube.com or www.video.google.com to find clips on Puja
Use a presentation package [e.g. Powerpoint or Photo Story] to make a tour of the Puja shrine. Use voice narration to add your own comments and reflections on the process.
