World Class Care
In a facility which brings cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment to full potential, the Fresno Heart Hospital gives Central Valley residents world class care right here at home.
It is just what local cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons envisioned because it is what they have designed. A special facility that dedicates all its resources to people with heart and vascular needs. An environment embracing the ideal in medical technology and practice for every member of the caregiving team. A place where patients and families feel like honored guests. Where the focus is obvious, and the benefits are just as evident.
Background
In 1999, a group of cardiac physicians began to investigate the possibility of creating a specialty hospital to meet the growing cardiac needs of Central California. They envisioned a regional facility devoted to the diagnostic, surgical and medical needs of cardiac and vascular patients. The group concluded that optimal cardiovascular care is best delivered where all resources are dedicated to patients with heart disease. The physicians determined that the best course of action was to form the Fresno Heart Hospital, a physician partnership with Community Medical Centers.
For Community Medical Centers and the physician partners, the Fresno Heart Hospital is an investment to improve cardiovascular care in the community. The Fresno Heart Hospital is designed to complement CMC's existing programs. Working together, the Fresno Heart Hospital and Community Medical Centers provide Valley residents with improved access to heart and vascular services.
Forty-eight physicians own 49% of the Fresno Heart Hospital, and Community Medical Centers owns 51%. Most cardiac physicians in the Fresno area and throughout the six county Central Valley have invested in the Heart Hospital. There are physician partners from Visalia to Merced. The Fresno Heart Hospital is the first dedicated heart hospital in California owned by the local community.
The Fresno Heart Hospital opened at a critical time of population growth and medical need. Older residents comprise one of the region's fastest growing groups. Heart disease, a condition that usually develops over a lifetime and hits hardest after age 45, remains the leading cause of death in Fresno County. The opening of the Fresno Heart Hospital brings additional high-quality care and a variety of state-of-the-art treatment options to the region's burgeoning population.

Ask a Heart Expert
Q:I am a retired lady. It is too late for me to begin to exercise?
A:Actually, the older you are, the more you need regular exercise. Women who do not exercise have twice the change of dying from heart disease as women who do exercise. Regular exercise improves body weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, fitness, bone strength and mental function. Elderly women who have not been physically active, experience more disability in their daily functioning than women who have been active. Seek medical advice before starting your exercise program.
Mission
The mission of the Fresno Heart Hospital is to provide exceptional cardiac and vascular services to the residents of the Central Valley and to achieve a national reputation for quality, cost effectiveness and customer service.
