The Separatist Conflict in Sri Lanka: Terrorism, Ethnicity, Political Economy

Annotation:

So far I have read the introduction. This book discusses the whole conflict from beginning to end and the various actors within the conflict. Bandarage asserts that his discussion will be beyond the usual ethnic and colonial reasoning for the conflict. Instead his argument will be centred on the complex interrelationships between different actors and ideas in/ of the conflict. He asserts that there must be a move away from ethnic duality and colonial explanations of the conflict. Since I have read the introduction I cannot properly evaluate the success of the arguments he presents.

Waiting Game

Bullion, A. (2004). "Waiting Game." The World Today 60(2): 18-19.

Annotation:

This article outlined the overall progress of the Norwegian Peace Process in 2004. At this stage it seemed that is was heading towards conflict. This article seemed more factual than opinionative at parts. I found this useful as much of the resources that I have are quite opinionated. It succinctly outlined the actors within the Process and the overall progress. However for research purposes this article only provides a brief introduction to the overall peace process and the other resources I have will elaborate on this issue.
