INTRODUCTION
The primary objective of the Research Institute (RI) is to study, conduct research, and develop solutions to problems encountered in the application of modern technology to the needs of the Kingdom, particularly in the utilization of its petroleum, mineral, and water resources. The RI is dedicated to the goal of utilizing all the material and energy resources of the Kingdom wisely.
The Research Institute has seven technical centers: Center for Applied Physical Sciences; Center for Communicqations & Computer Research; Center for Economics & Management Systems, Center for Engineering Research; Center for Environment & Water; Center for Petroleum and Minerals; and Center for Refining & Petrochemicals. All the technical centers receive administrative and technical assistance from two organizational units: Support Services Office (SSO) and Research and Innovation Support Office (RISO).
The RI’s Technical Information Unit is a component part of the RISO. The prime objective of the Unit is to procure technical information needed by researchers.. It conducts computerized on-line literature searches on specialized technical subjects, accessing databases in the United States, Europe, and Saudi Arabia. The Unit obtains reprints of documents from information brokers around the world.
This cumulative bibliography covers the period 1997-1999. Technical papers within centers are listed alphabetically under the last name of main authors; co-authors are listed in the Author Index. To facilitate the use of the bibliography, title, subject and source indexes are also provided. The number appearing at the beginning of each entry represents the center followed by the serial number. Researchers are most cordially invited to consult these papers at the Technical Information Unit.
