A call for the creation of the Moldova Fund

Multiple associations fromRomaniaand the Republic of Moldovahave responded to the calls of the Romanian Academic Society,the Unionist Platform Action 2012 and the Black Sea University Foundation, and called for the creation of theMoldova Fund. A total of 31 organizations from both countrieshave addressed this call to the Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, the Senate President, Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, the Chamber of Deputies President, Valeriu Zgonea, and Prime Minister Dacian Cioloş. Those who support this callconsider that the various financial aid packagessent from Romania to Moldova “have disappeared in bureaucratic black holes”,they also consider that the creation of the Moldova Fundwould eliminatepolitical interferences and decrease the overall risk of corruption. The associations and foundations that support the projectare demanding that the administrative council of the Moldova Fundshould be represented both by state institutions, as well as nongovernmental organizations from both countriesthat specialize in good government.

At the beginning of this school year, Clean Romania,partnering with the National Student Council, launched the “Transparency in Education” campaign.The campaign aims to expand on last year’s attemptsfromClean Romaniaand theRomanian Academic Society, to have the Ministry of Educationpublish secondary school and high school budgets.The calls were made after a number of scandals appeared concerningconcerning class funds.

For this year’s campaign, requests to publish the budgets of all schools that received city hall funding were sent to allcounty residencies, in accordance with the law. The requests were sent in accordance with Law 544/2001 concerning the freedom of access to information of public interest, through the‘'Ask the State Some Questions’applicationon theClean Romania platform.
