A Bill to Repeal the Jones Act

Be it enacted by the Student Congress here assembled that,

Article I The Merchant Marine Act of 1920 (P.L. 66-261), also known as the Jones Act, is hereby repealed.

Article II The Maritime Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation shall assume responsibility for the implementation of this legislation.

Article III This legislation shall take effect upon passage.

Article IV All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.

A Bill to Increase the income of H1-B Workers
BE IT ENACTED BY THE STUDENT CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:
Section 1. The minimum income that workers who have come to the United States under the H1-B Specialty Occupations Visa will be increased from 60,000 dollars per year to 100,000 dollars per year.
Section 2.Any entity that is found to be in violation of this bill shall be assessed a level three Civil Monetary Fine of 35,000 dollars.
Section 3.The United States Department Labor of shall oversee the implementation of this legislation.
SECTION 4.This bill shall go into effect on January 1, 2018.
Section 5.All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.

A Bill to Ban Prescription Drug Advertisements

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

SECTION 1.All broadcast prescription drug advertisements shall be banned.

SECTION 2.“Prescription drugs” shall be defined as drugs that must be authorized by a physician.

“Broadcast” shall be defined as content delivered via television, radio, and telephone.

SECTION 3.The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be jointly responsible for the implementation and enforcement of this legislation.

SECTION 4.This bill shall go into effect on January 1st, 2019.

SECTION 5.All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.

A Bill to End U.S-Saudi Arm Sales

SECTION 1.Purchases of U.S-made military equipment by Saudi Arabia shall be suspended. Any aid package to Saudi Arabia containing military equipment shall be prohibited.
SECTION 2.Military equipment is defined as including, but not limited to, arms and weapons systems.
SECTION 3.The United States Departments of State, Defense, and Treasury will together oversee the implementation of this bill.
SECTION 4.This bill will take effect thirty days after passage.
SECTION 5.All laws in conflict with this legislation are hereby declared null and void.

12 / WHEREAS,President Trump has utilized executive actions to loosen health insurance standards, restrict enrollment periods to health exchanges, and remove cost sharing subsidies from the Affordable Care Act; and
WHEREAS,ensuring public health requires an affordable and inclusive healthcare system; and
WHEREAS,these executive action will result in less efficacy for our existing health care system; and
WHEREAS,reforms to health care should originate from within the Congress with bipartisan participation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED,That the Congress here assembled recommend that all executive measures that undermine the efficacy of the Affordable Care Act should end and that future efforts will be condemned by this body.

A Bill to Eliminate Agricultural Subsidy Programs

BE IT ENACTED BY THE CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:

Section 1.All funding for agricultural subsidy programs administered by the United States Department of Agriculture shall terminate on December 31, 2017.

Section 2.“Agricultural subsidy programs” shall be defined as crop insurance and commodity programs as specified in H.R. 2642; Public Law 113-79, commonly known as the Agricultural Act of 2014 (“the Farm Bill”). No action specified in Section 1 shall be construed as to have an effect on food stamp, nutrition, and conservation programs as defined in the Farm Bill.

Section 3.Section 1 of this legislation shall be construed as to nullify and void the programs specified in Section 2 that were previously authorized by the Farm Bill. The remaining provisions of the Farm Bill shall continue in full force and effect as specified therein.
