Dear Amit:
(1) Many thanks for your msg (ATTACHMENT I).
I will let you know as soon as I hear from Josie (ATTACHMENT II) — she must be very busy for the preparation of her trip to the Middle East this week.
(2) How was your talk with Hans at Millennium Institute?
Referring to the Item (6) of my last list distribution (Reference (a) above), I am thinking how to get the Japanese ODA fund to the ECOWAS to assist Andrea’s project with them.
(3) Many thanks again for your following excellent write-up;

Columbia University CICR Organized Fall ’09 Conference, Global University System (GUS) proposal for collaboration, Prepared by Dr. Amit K. Maitra

BTW, can you kindly work on the two page summary write-up of our GUS/GCEPG projects? -- the one you did was for Josie, which I sent her as proposing our joint conference/workshop.
Two page summary would be necessary anyway for our fund raising for our workshop through Polytechnic.
(4) I am now reading Al Gore’s early book “Earth in Balance,” and found his project direction is very much similar to our GUS/GCEPG.

Excerpt from; Al Gore, “Earth in the Balance: Forging a New Common Purpose” ISBN 978-1-84407-484-6, pp. 354-360, 1992

He might have gotten the idea of “massively parallel processing” computer network architecture (*) from his staff who was one of our list members when I did it through the Electronic Information Exchange System (EIES) of New Jersey Institute of Technology since early 1980s — a World Bank officer once said that our list is the world longest running list. Although Al Gore kindly mentioned that Japan was constructing such a network, I knew that there were none doing such, except my papers about GCEPG.

(*) See Figures 6 to 8 of the Reference (c) above — Figures 6 and 7 were presented at the First International Conference on Computer Communication held at the Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC in October 1972.

Best, Tak

Dear Tak
Many thanks for your email. The Director of the Center and myself will be spending the next days to make a primary selection. The proposals will then be sent to the Board of the Fund for Global environment and conflict resolution. Unfortunately, I can be no way guarantee that this process will be completed before July 14th.
We will do our best to make the process as fair and efficient as possible.
I will write to shortly regarding your previous email.
Warm wishes,
Josie
